Solar PV

How much potential for generating electricity from solar pv panels do you have?

This could mean where you live, your business premises or even a property you own elsewhere.

Before anyone makes an investment it’s a sensible idea to get your site properly checked out to determine the potential before making what could turn out to be an expensive mistake.

Many people for example have made a substantial investment only to discover too late that their site is not in an ideal location and the solar pv panels only produces a fraction of the electricity that it’s capable of.

The sort of detailed information necessary to give you an accurate projection can only be provided by taking direct measurements as near to the site of the proposed solar pv panels as possible.

An instrument like shown in the picture combining an anemometer and solar cell can be mounted on top of a mast and record the data over a period of time.

When worthwhile data has been recorded a report is produced which shows how much electricity could be generated and even how much extra income could be earned by exporting any excess back into the grid.

But why bother with taking exact measurements when you can get this information from the internet?

The problem with most websites is that they only provide a very rough estimate usually within a one kilometre grid square and does not take into account surrounding trees and buildings.

So avoid making expensive mistakes and get your site properly checked out first.
