Electricity generated from moving or flowing water whether it be from the Sea or from a river is without doubt a good thing. It’s a good thing for several reasons, a big one being that the energy density from flowing water is about 1000 times as great as the wind.

Another reason is that energy from the tide or a river is much more predictable than the wind or solar energy and when something is predictable it becomes a great deal more useful especially to the engineers that run the electricity grids.

On a small scale, hydroelectricity generated from a stream or river flowing nearby can be a worthwhile investment with any excess electricity possibly being exported back into the supply network and earning additional revenue for the site owner.

Each site is considered individually and a feasibility report shall be provided showing a calculation of how much energy could be extracted from the stream and how this might benefit the system owner.
